Interregional Competence Center for Post-Mining and Ecology

The center carries out search, research, scientific and applied, development, educational, educational, methodological and other activities related to the solution of issues:
— flooding of mines and water level management,
— reclamation of lands disturbed during the extraction of minerals,
— processing and management of mining waste,
— increasing the energy efficiency of technological processes;
— etc.

Head of the Center:

Yuri Alexandrovich Manakov, C.Sc. in Biology

Priority areas of the Center:

1. Treatment technologies and management of a drainage system to stabilize the water level of flooded mines.
2. Processing of mineral complexes of man-made origin.
3. Reclamation of lands disturbed as a result of underground, opencast mining of mineral deposits, waste storage, usage of mine/hydraulic mine dumps (dumps) of mining and processing operations.
4. Increasing the energy efficiency of technological processes of mining and processing operations.
5. Economic assessment of resources.
6. Expert activity in the field of mining and ecology.
7. Professional retraining and advanced training of executives and specialists in the field of mining, ecology, energy efficiency.

The Center is involved in solving the following tasks:

1. Research and development of technologies for the treatment and water level management of flooded mines, including:
1.1. Development of technologies for conditioning and purification of sludge, technical, waste and circulating water of mining and processing enterprises from solid suspensions and harmful substances.
1.2. Physical and chemical processes for extracting useful components from natural and industrial waste water.
1.3. Drainage complex management to stabilize the water level of flooded mines.
2. Physical, physico-chemical, chemical and special processes of separation, concentration and processing of man-made mineral complexes.
3. Assessment of the environmental impact, environmental damage from the alienation and disturbance of land as a result of underground, open-pit mining of mineral deposits, waste storage, operation of dumps (hydraulic dumps) of mining and processing enterprises.
4. Research and development of technologies for increasing the energy efficiency of technological processes of mining and processing enterprises.
5. Economic assessment of resources.
6. Implementation of scientific research and applied developments increasing the amount of funding, expanding the areas of work performed.
7. Professional retraining and advanced training of executives and specialists in the field of mining, ecology, energy efficiency, etc. in accordance with the requirements of federal legislation, job descriptions in occupational standards and the needs of mining and processing enterprises.
8. Organization of practical training, internships and consulting services.
9. Development of the material, technical and resource base of research and applied activities.
